Finding ways to be humbled helps overcome frustration.

Hi folks. As most of us in this business I seem to have a lot more frustrating days than I used to. Real Estate is hard. My personal business is about 80% short sales and REOs (foreclosures). Frustrating.

I work in a very low end market and have to do lot's of transactions every month in order to make a good living and pay the business bills. But that's ok. So many folks have it much worse than I.

Yet, they have more strength than I could ever imagine. A perfect example is.....

.......Artist Leon Botha, one of the world's longest surviving Progeria sufferers, and photographer Gordon Clark embark on a collaborative and artistic adventure, exploring the questions of destiny and immortality to bring us this powerful photo series Who Am I? Transgressions.

"By words one transmits thoughts to another, by means of art, one transmits feelings." Leo Tolstoy

Do NOT be foreclosed on! Avoid foreclosure. Short Sales DO close.

You're right, BB. RE IS harder than ever. We're so insignificant in the grand scheme, and yet there is so much beauty in life. What a poignant and amazing video. Mr Botha's mind is remarkable, belying his 'mortal coil'.

Bryant---thanks for posting this----what an awesome person---other peoples "worse" often has a side that is better than our "better".

Bryant,

That was a hard 3:26 watch.

It puts life in a proper prospective.

Thank You,

Bill

I agree...

Just as long as you're not trying to humble those around you.

Every day Nestor and I thank God that we have business. Every day when we hear agents, grown men calling us crying that they no longer can even buy food and to please get their deal closed- every day when we hear another agent quit and went to get another job, every day when we hear some other news- we look up and praise God for blessing us. We are SOOOOO blessed beyond measure in so many ways. Katerina

Agreed, short sales can beare definitely frustrating and exhausting, however when you get one thru, and the people are so relieved, then it is time to do the happy dance! - Yes we see the downturn and how it has hit so many in our industry. We too are very thankful to have business.

Wow, what a wonderful and poignant video.  As a human being, I often find times when I can be prone to whining and the "why me" attitude :o)!  During these "tantrums" I often calm myself down and do remember that I am quite blessed and I am very thankful that I have my health, my family and my business, (there are many that are missing a lot of these).  I am truly thankful.  This woman puts it into perspective and I thank you for sharing it with us!

BB: Like you, short sales have dominated my business. When I talk to agents. sometimes I see how I am different--how I am brave enough to jump over the next hurdle and/or challenge a decision. I never really saw myself that way before this market, and I am thrilled to se those skills in myself. I, too, am very blessed to have success, family and the like. After the super bowl, they are going to air a new show where CEOs try the jobs that "the average joe" does every day at the very same company. While that will not be art in anyway, I watched a preview and it WILL be a very humbling experience which causes those CEOs to appreciate what they have. It should be interesting (but maybe the preview was enough to get the point?)

BB, Thank you for sharing this, although I don't think the video does him justice. You really have to see his art to understand him. Leon Botha's art is driven by his rare disease. He has had to face his mortality sooner than most of us. The fact is that most of us, myself included, are in denial about the fact that every day is a gift and we could die tomorrow. The only difference between us and him is his artistic genius and his knowledge that his time really is at an end. He's now 24 and most people with his disease don't live past 13. Knowing that each day could be our last, how do we want to live our lives? Does it change our perspective on what's important and what isn't? We are not immortal. We all have limited time. What are we going to do with the time we have left? Art is supposed to take us outside our insular personal viewpoint and enlarge our perspective. That's what Leon is trying to do, using his life and his talent, to take us beyond the blinders we put on ourselves.

Absolutely amazing!  That type of human spirit is something we all should strive for on a daily basis.  Heroes don't just come from Comic books.

BB, what an amazing post! Thanks for sharing this beautiful person and his spirit. I would love to see his art and will make an effort to find it. Each day is precious and it is so important that we've gotten to the place to know how to live each day. He teaches us much on that level. The good advice you gave me yesterday has even newer meaning for me now! Thanks Bryant!

Clicked the link to view his art. Stunning and Provocative. Art is a medium that can express so much. The context helps! Thanks again!
